Uprooted: A Modern Bridal Fashion Shoot Featuring Unconventional Bouquets

Minimalist yet dramatic, this contemporary bridal fashion shoot is the vision of Vegas-based photographer Kristen Krehbiel and flower artist Mandy Ogaz, who focuses on textural floral arranging that retains the organic shapes and topographic imprints of her natural medium.
“I was inspired to create a shoot that pushed back against bridal norms,” Kristen says. “The main focus of the shoot was to showcase unique bridal bouquets. Mandy and I wanted to work with textures, shadows, dead branches, and uprooted flora to undo the idea of what a bridal bouquet should be.”
Hair and makeup artist Janelle Ingram gave model Morgan Bronson a look that was both relaxed and glamorous. A metallic winged eyeliner was offset by a nude lip and loose waves.
Mandy—proprietess of The Potted Pansy in Pleasant Grove, Utah—used an uprooted potted plant, a scraggly lavender skeleton, a bleached branch found in the desert, and an oversized bunch of foraged roses to create her strikingly unusual designs, which were photographed in the South Room of Miesh Studio.
Morgan wore an airy bridal jumpsuit and a floral jacket. “You don’t always have to hold flowers,” Kristen says. “You can wear them instead.”
Every dainty piece of jewelry was handmade by Sloane. “Her geometric designs are so modern, simple, and unique,” Kristen says.
Callie Ann Cakes created a vegan, gluten-free lemon cake with an asymmetric design. A dusting of poppy seeds added texture and visual interest.
Epoch Design’s stationery suite epitomized elegant minimalism.
