Greg and Trisha Hammond, both now legal analysts, met as undergrads at the University of Illinois. In autumn 2013, Greg brought Trisha back to their alma mater to pop the question at an old collegiate haunt: the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts, where they had first caught each other’s eye while working as hosts. “Tears commenced, followed by loud sobs that reverberated throughout the large and empty lobby,” Trisha recalls. “Greg was pleased.”
Two Junes later, the pair tied the knot in Winnetka, an architecturally distinguished village just north of downtown Chicago. After a traditional vow exchange at the Sacred Heart Parish, whose nature-inspired interior is based off a marble panel carved with vines and branches, the newlyweds and their guests headed to the Winnetka Community House for a candlelit reception within the ivied-walled gardens on the rambling grounds.
It was a picture-perfect setting for the elegantly intimate gathering that Greg and Trisha had envisioned, a celebration rich in merriment, flecked with gold, and brightened by “little bursts of fresh, springy color.”
