Celebrate the coming season of cheer with this festive winter punch. The decadent sweetness of pomegranate is balanced by the light, tangy tartness of grapefruit juice. Carlene Thomas, our cocktail expert, shares the recipe.
Cocktail Hour
It’s easy to begin lamenting the transition to cooler weather as we say goodbye to summer berries and melons. That is, until we remember the beautiful winter produce that is to come! Pomegranates and grapefruit are two of my favorite fruits for winter recipes. Both have bright, distinct flavors that shine in a season of heavy meals.
Ingredients (serves 1)
♦ 2 tablespoons of pomegranate jewels
♦ 1 teaspoon of pomegranate molasses
♦ 4 ounces of pomegranate juice
♦ 2 ounces of grapefruit juice
♦ 1 tablespoon of simple syrup
♦ 1.5 ounces of vodka
♦ Grapefruit skin for garnish
Directions
In a cocktail shaker with ice, add pomegranate molasses, pomegranate juice, grapefruit juice, simple syrup, and vodka. Shake to chill and pour over pomegranate jewels in a tall, thin glass. Garnish with curled grapefruit skin.
