Seaside Chic: A Springtime Shoot at the Santa Barbara Harbor
Photos By Jose Villa and Event Design by Kelly Oshiro
By L. K. on May 24, 2013 at 12:20 pm in Beachy and Retro
The essence of springtime by the Santa Barbara sea is exquisitely distilled into this late-morning shoot, light as a mist off the water and dreamily captured by photographer Jose Villa, a true master of light.
Stylist Kelly Oshiro, who is known for her artful eye, envisioned a casually refined pierside brunch for two followed by a sunset sail on a Catalina sailboat. “The seaside tablescape was designed with a slightly retro vibe and decorated with loosely arranged spring flowers,” Kelly says. “Colorful glassware completed the casual look.”
Each design element, from a gilded swan vessel to a set of whitewashed Adirondack chairs, weathered by wind and salt, complemented the oceanic airiness of the setting. A bit of playful whimsy surfaced in the menu, which was hand-painted on a wooden oar. The overall feel encompasses the kind of West Coast breeziness that makes its way into many an inlander’s daydream.

In love with the blue and gray hues of this shoot. The soft light of Jose Villa's photography is gorgeous as always, and Kelly Oshiro is obviously one to watch. Perfect long weekend inspiration!
