12 Cakes of Christmas #10: Modern Plaid
By L. K. on Dec 23, 2015 at 7:00 am in Modern
Based in Olathe, Kansas, master pâtissier Shannon Bond creates edible works of art that taste as good as they look, with each delightfully original design made from scratch using fresh, gourmet ingredients. For our holiday cake series, she dressed up a square-tiered, staircase-styled architectural cake with a Burberry-inspired winter plaid, putting a modern spin on the old, beloved pattern. Handmade gum-paste pine needles and berries accented the snow-textured fondant that covered the top tier. What sweetness lay inside? A cinnamony pumpkin cake filled with salted caramel buttercream!
