Spun from different shades of grayed-purple chiffon, a duo of light and airy bridesmaid dresses are on brilliant display in this dreamy photo shoot, becomingly set at Pennsylvania’s Peace Valley Lavender Farm, a family-owned operation that grows several varieties of fragrant English lavender and lavandins in its sloping, sun-warmed fields.
“Selected by hair and makeup artist Marissa Brennan, it was the perfect location for showcasing these ethereal, lighthearted bridesmaid looks,” says photographer Mariya Stecklair. “We were in our element frolicking about in the fields, while summer’s warm breezes susurrated through the blossoming rows of loveliness, sending them into waves and stirring up their sweet scent.”
Philadelphia-based flower studio Fresh Designs incorporated sprigs of freshly picked lavender into the bridesmaids’ quietly lush bouquets and light-handed headpieces. To balance the softness and bring in a bit of brightness, bold, showy blooms—think peonies of the ‘Coral Charm’ and fuchsia-flecked ‘Festiva Maxima’ varieties—were added to the mix of delicate botanical life, which included miniature gladioli, dainty bellflowers, lavender-blue scabiosas, willow eucalyptus, and the wispiest of ferns.
Mariya captured the scene so vividly that through her images one can almost catch a whiff of its aromatic treasures.
