Lauren & Arlen: A Colorfully Rustic Wedding in Wisconsin

Lauren Seabury and Arlen Striegl sat next to each other in a grad school class at the University of Wisconsin. “I tried to talk to Arlen,” Lauren recalled, “but I was repeatedly rebuffed until, after many months, I finally hit upon the one topic of conversation that Arlen enjoyed—his dog!” Not long after, she wowed him—and won his heart—by “kicking his butt” in the Crazylegs Classic, an annual road race held each spring in Madison. The rest, as they say, is history.
The couple, both avid outdoorspeople, decided to tie the knot at the Aldo Leopold Nature Center. Connecting visitors of all ages to the natural world in the spirit of the famed conversationist after whom it is named, the eco-friendly venue features miles of scenically diverse terrain, from woodlands to wetlands, as well as state-of-the-art nature exhibits for guests’ enjoyment.
Lauren and Arlen exchanged vows in a green field beneath a branchy arch bedecked with brightly colored blooms. Fittingly, Arlen’s dog, Jake, who brought the pair together and also aided in Arlen’s proposal to Lauren, served as the ring bearer.
“He did a wonderful job,” said wedding photographer Katie Ricard. “After the ceremony, we all headed to Union South in downtown Madison for a night of good food, good company, and good fun.”

Gorgeous, gorgeous classic autumn palette! Luckily she found out the way to his heart was through his dog!
