Joey Daley and John Scholl first locked eyes at a party in college. John eventually summoned the courage to strike up a conversation with the beautiful brunette, and the two have been inseparable ever since. After getting engaged atop New York City’s iconic Rockefeller Center, the pair decided to get married in Napa Valley close to where Joey grew up. The idea of a laid-back event anchored by the brightest color in the spectrum—yellow, of course—greatly appealed to the bride, who turned to a bit of childhood nostalgia as a source of inspiration. “I made a lot of lemonade when I was little,” Joey said. “I’ve always loved the color of freshly squeezed lemons, so I naturally gravitated toward this hue and what it represents.”
Working closely with her mother and drawing on the talent of local artisans, Joey crafted a wedding that was at once classic and playful. Bold lemony colors were tempered by muted shades of gold and blue-gray. Unfettered joy marked the day, captured by photographer Julie Kay Kelly, and Joey still gets teary-eyed talking about it. “It was just the most amazing thing to see all of our friends and family together in one spot,” Joey said, “all there supporting us and honoring our love.”
