Jessica & Eric: A Classic Wedding in Florida

Jessica and Eric’s love story began in first grade, when Jessica surprised Eric with a kiss smack-dab on the lips in choir class one day. Although she promptly forgot the encounter, it was a kiss he would never forget.
After that year, Eric and his family moved to faraway Papua New Guinea, where his mother and father worked as missionaries, translating the Bible into local languages. So the two didn’t see one another again until Eric’s parents went on furlough, which was six long years later. Despite the time that had elapsed, Eric still carried a torch for Jessica, and she soon discovered that she had developed feelings for him as well. But Eric’s time in the States was short-lived, and the typical travails of teenagehood kept them at an arm’s length anyway.
Nonetheless, they kept in touch up to and throughout their first and second years of college—she went to Tennessee to study biology, and he went to Indiana to learn the craft of filmmaking. Finally, at the end of their sophomore year, they officially began dating.
The distance was nothing new, but it was still difficult. “Saying goodbye was never easy,” Jessica said, “but it made our hellos so much sweeter.”
Eric proposed on a fall day one year later. The pair were wed in their Floridian hometown, and the ceremony took place at their longtime church. It was an emotional day, captured beautifully by Sarah Becker of Sarah Becker Photography.
“The love and respect they have for each other is completely inspiring to me,” Sarah said. “Although I’m known to tear up at every wedding I shoot, this was the first wedding where tears were streaming down my face throughout the whole ceremony.”
By the end of this post, we bet tears will be streaming down your face too.
