12 Cakes of Christmas #8: Gilded Winter Trio

Beautifully captured in late-afternoon light by Smith House Photography, a Houston-based husband-and-wife creative duo, and jubilantly styled by Weddings by Jessee, today’s treats are the work of Whisk Bakery, which whips up some of the loveliest, tastiest confections in all of Texas. Inspired by the glisten of freshly fallen snow, founder and baker Carla Navarro created a trio of wintry cakes with glimmering finishing touches. Her flagship design, a dulce de leche cake frosted with vanilla buttercream and covered in coconut flakes to achieve a snowy effect, was flanked by two smaller sidekicks, one a cherry-filled tres leche cake accented with gold-leafed cranberries and the other a naked chocolate cake drizzled with caramel, topped with gilded pinecones, and festooned by Arteflora Design with fresh greenery. Written on wrapped presents, Calligraphy Cult’s whimsical lettering denoted the cake’s flavors in a charmingly Christmassy way. Oversized ornaments, red-sequined pillows, and cozy throws added to the festive flair.
