Chelsea & Ryan: A Baseball-Themed Wedding in West Virginia

Chelsea Gilliam, a nursing school student, and Ryan Bailey, a construction company engineer, met “ages ago,” in Chelsea’s words, when they were just “little ol’ things.” Ryan’s fifth-grade teacher, a neighbor and dear friend of Chelsea’s mother, had a seemingly far-fetched notion that the two ten-year-olds would wind up married one day. Little did they know how right she was. Eight years later, Chelsea and Ryan, both baseball buffs, fell in love at a Yankees game. A few years after that, Ryan popped the question at a Cincinnati Reds game with a little help from the team’s mascot, Rosie Red, and a contingent of cheering fans.
Unsurprisingly, a ball-game theme marked the couple’s summer wedding, which took place in a wide open field in Charleston, West Virginia. Carrying a bouquet of cheerful sunflowers—a pitch-perfect complement to the rustic, laid-back setting—the bride walked down the aisle to an acoustic version of Jack Norworth’s 1908 classic, “Take Me Out to the Ball Game,” and a home plate base served as the altar. Along with the ballpark touches, a bounty of handmade details contributed to the charm of the day. Most of the décor was crafted by the couple, and the food for the pair’s 300 guests was made from scratch by the groom’s mother.
Needless to say, the event—ever so thoughtfully captured by photographer Lauren Love—was an out-of-the-park home run.

This was the most beautiful wedding's ever from the moment you walked through the arches as to you sat beside friends, family and guest's it was an absolute dream just to watch this couple walk down the isle. I have watched Chelsea grow fom just a child into an amazing young lady into the woman she is today I don't know who is more luckier Ryan or myself? Well I do know one thing and that is they both came from a Christian background and that they will follow in both their parents footsteps!! And Chelsea your mom was shining down from heaven because this day the sky was so beautiful!! Love ya both!!
