Bubbling over with effervescent beauty and marked by an imaginatively playful aesthetic, today’s featured shoot fittingly took place at Costa Mesa’s Chuck Jones Center for Creativity, a thoroughly modern event venue owned and operated by 24 Carrots, one of Orange County’s most sought-after caterers. The center also houses a nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring artistic innovation and originality in the spirit of the celebrated American animator and cartoon artist after which it is named.
“I love the space’s industrial, blank-canvas feel,” says Aimee Takumi, the shoot’s orchestrator and the designer behind boutique event company Confetti Skies. “Enlivened with Chuck’s colorful cast of characters, the gallery walls are reminiscent of childhood.”
Aimee embraced the whimsy, fun, and movement of his artwork through her bubbly theme. “Nothing says celebration like champagne,” she says, “and anyone, young or old, can enjoy bubbles.”
Keeping with the bubble motif, floral design studio Beautiful Savage created floating rose orbs in lieu of a traditional arch.
Featuring roses, peonies, hydrangeas, eucalyptus leaves, and billy buttons for a bright pop of color, Beautiful Savage’s dramatically lush cascading floral runner formed the focal point of the dining table.
“The ‘Liza’ linens from La Tavola’s new 2015 collection were an absolute must for this shoot,” Aimee says. “I absolutely love the soft detail of the embroidery and the glimmers of light that the iridescent sequins collect.
For the chairs and tableware, Aimee went with Classic Party Rentals. “Their selection is superb, and they had exactly what I was looking for,” she says.
“I wanted to incorporate bubbles and champagne throughout the space in subtle ways to tie everything together,” Aimee says. “We used the bubble bud vases from Theoni, La Tavola’s new rental company, for a unique twist on escort cards.”
Bubbles blown from a bubble machine set a lighthearted tone on the dance floor. “They added that element of magic and whimsy,” Aimee says.
Aimee DIYed the glittered champagne bottles. “I actually began doing these when I started Confetti Skies, and I think of them as a signature offering for my clients,” she says. “Creating them is a calming process for me, and I love to do it. They are such fun favors for guests, and they can double as escort cards.”
“Simply Sweet Cakery took my dessert vision to a whole new level,” Aimee says. “Every element, including a cake pops board that resembled fizzing champagne, creatively reflected the theme.”
