When Ashley and Derik Martinez first met, they took an instant dislike to one another. Fortunately, Cupid decided to intervene, and the two Californians were soon surprised to find themselves falling madly in love. A year later, Derik proposed at their favorite hiking spot.

When it came to planning their nuptials, both adamantly agreed on one thing: that the guest list should be whittled down to only their nearest and dearest. “It was extremely important to me and Derik that we just invite people who are actually in our lives and will remain in our lives forever,” Ashley said. With this in mind, the pair set about orchestrating an intimate backyard wedding at Ashley’s childhood home in Orange County. Aided by family members, they transformed the casual outdoor space into a romantic setting worthy of a wedding. “My dad went above and beyond to make the place look spectacular for our guests,” Ashley gushed. “He even planted all kinds of flowers especially for the event.”
