Asanas and Mimosas: A Yoga Bridal Shower in Bend, Oregon

Seeking a stress-free bridal shower idea that doesn’t involve silly games or tea sandwiches? Consider turning the celebratory occasion into a chance to unwind with an all-level yoga class capped off by an intimate, conversation-filled brunch (preferably one that includes cocktails and crepe cake). Even non-yoginis who’ve never uttered the word namaste might pick up a relaxation technique or two, leaving lighter of mood if not enlightened.
Oregon-based photographer Erica Swantek shares a boho-chic spin on this serene party concept through today’s inviting shoot, fittingly held in Bend’s Old Ironworks District at Armature, which is both a light-filled event venue with an energy all its own and a beloved creative home to the area’s artists and artisans. Erica and her team worked in a palette of vibrant jewel tones that popped against the clean lines and original woodwork of the bright industrial space. The invigorating hues were reflected in every detail, from the yoga mats to the eclectic bouquets.
“I can think of no better way to re-energize before the big day than with sun salutations in a cozy setting followed by spa eats and daytime drinks,” Erica says. “This inspired bridal shower started off with yoga instructor Cynthia LaRoche setting an intention for the class. She had all of the ladies write little notes to the bride-to-be—happy words or well-wishes later shared over sips, sweets, and laughter.”
Designed by Summer Robbins, the exotic bouquets featured fritillaries, poppy pods, ruby-hued ranunculi, and amethyst-colored scabiosas.
Private yoga instructor Cynthia LaRoche, whose classes are shaped by a mix of styles, guided the gals through a series of basic poses and meditations.
Post yoga, the ladies enjoyed another kind of refreshment: a flight of herb-infused brunch tipples served up by Twist Cocktail Catering Co., which used locally sourced ingredients in its delightful creations.
In rustic fashion, the brunch menu was inscribed by lettering artist Kristen Buwalda onto an old windowpane. Tate and Tate Catering took care of all things savory, from chicken salad sliders to a Southwestern cheesecake, while Dreamin’ Desserts satisfied sweet tooths with its sugary fare, including a chocolaty crepe cake and citrus tarts topped with candied limes.
The group brunched at a chabudai-style table, its weathered wood surface scattered with bold blooms and bright citrus branches.
