Dust Studios, an up-and-coming Iowa-based photography and videography company run by two talented siblings, joined forces with prop and interior stylist Lauren Chorpening to put together this captivating Art Deco-themed shoot, held in the heart of winter at Des Moines’ Rollins Mansion, an elaborate Tudor-style estate built in 1925. Classic Deco colors—gold, onyx, and copper—combined with bold geometric shapes and an elegant leaf motif set a strikingly glamorous tone evocative of the Roaring Twenties. Nathan Mowry and Kaitie Vander Linden, a real-life couple, served as models, and their joyous love for one another shines through the photographs.
Styled Shoots
Styled by Sara McConkey, Kaitie’s hair was adorned with Lo Boheme’s “White Cleo” fascinator, a Grecian-inspired headpiece handmade with glittering beaded leaves.
Plaza Florist & Gifts created a creamy white centerpiece for the head table.
Art Deco shapes and a gilded sugar bloom adorned the cake, made from scratch by Roseland Bakery.
Dark flowers and thistly textures were incorporated into both the bouquet and the boutonniere for a touch of drama.
Kaitie donned Rebecca Schoneveld’s Gatsbyesque “Gemma” gown, which features a beaded lace shell over a bias-cut silk-crepe gown with 1930s-inspired seams and a scalloped-edge train.
